Let’s work together

Green couch in front of white bookshelf

gaining experience

As a student I am offering coaching at a discounted rate.

I consider it a great privilege to listen to your stories and support you through your journey.

I will draw from my own experience of engaging my story intensively over the past few years, through my ongoing training at the Allender Center, as well as my mentoring relationship with a seasoned facilitator.

Hear my story

What I value

It is imperative to keep one’s focus on Jesus Christ; His heart of forgiveness, redemption, and restoration while engaging our past stories.

Christ-centered

  • Examine your story through the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ
  • To love more like Jesus
  • To know Jesus more fully

relational

  • Creating deeper, authentic relationships
  • Identifying impact, not blame
  • Prioritizing honesty and trust

somatic

  • Paying attention to your body
  • Learn to better regulate your emotions
  • Grounding exercises to combat anxiety

Why should I engage my story?

“The only reason worth entering the pain is the hope that somehow it can be transformed, that through it we will learn to love better and will know more joy.”

– Dan Allender (To Be Told- Workbook)

  • Our stories are playing out either consciously or subconsciously, whether we like it or not.
  • Our healing is never merely for ourselves- it is for our loved ones, our children and our children’s children.
  • A wound that is not acknowledged cannot be healed.

Here’s how we can help.

Harm and trauma has happened through relationship. True healing happens through relationship. Reclaim what was stolen.

  • Story work helps us literally rewire our brain. Begin to change default thought patterns and become a more settled, peaceful person.
  • Stop harmful patterns from repeating themselves.
  • Explore how your past reveals your calling and the beauty you bring to the world.

what to expect

01. Hello

What brings you here? Bring any questions you might have. What pain point are you experiencing right now?

Let’s get to know each other.

02. IDentify

Let’s talk more about your area of friction or discomfort. I will help you connect the dots to determine why you are reacting the way you are!

03. Engage

We will look in depth at the memory identified in your previous appointment. How is the past playing out in your present? How do we prevent it from hijacking our day?!

04. On going

Naming emotions and speaking your story out loud brings relief and clarity. I am honoured to be a compassionate witness to what you’ve been through.

Neuroscience shows that those who engage their past are better able to love others and show more empathy. Healing in not merely for ourselves.

“The practice of reflecting on the story of your life actually promotes healing in your brain. Brain health is the function of the degree to which all parts of your brain are connected to one another. The process of sharing your story with another person and hearing their reaction to your story, connects neural networks that were previously separated. The key to healing is connecting. Engaging the core stories of your life heals your brain by connecting regions that were previously not connected.” -Adam Young (Podcast Episode 1-Why Your Story Matters)

Trauma involves powerlessness and isolation.

If you had a difficult experience and didn’t have the opportunity to process it with a caring individual, the stage was set to internalize that as trauma. Alternately, if you had a harmful experience and were able to be comforted and talk openly with a loved one, the effects of that experience will be much less traumatic.

This is why being bullied on the school bus, for example, can be a very traumatic experience for some children, while others seem less directly affected by a similar experience. It greatly depends on how we were able to metabolize that encounter afterwards.

We have all endured harm in this fallen world. We are called into healing for God’s glory.

I am happy to talk with individuals from all backgrounds. I am a Christian, but you can dictate the amount of spirituality you would like to engage in in personal sessions.

Unfortunately, the church has been a place of devastating pain for many people.

I strive to offer a judgment-free space to explore those experiences. You are welcome here if you believe in God or do not; if you are a devote follower or unsure about your faith, if you have been profoundly hurt by those who were supposed to nurture and guide your spiritual walk or if you have a deep love for your place of worship.

Your journey to healing starts today.

Self-condemnation. It was my main course. Throw in Self-condemnation. It was my main course. Throw in a side of shame, add some disappointment for dessert, and you have the full meal deal.
.
I felt stuck. Frustrated with myself for resorting to the same futile patterns.
.
Self-condemnation sounded a lot like this: If only I was more patient. I need to pray more. I need to read my Bible more. I need to be a better wife, a better mom, a better friend. Try harder. Get it right. What's wrong with me? Be more like ______. I'm ruining my kids. I'm too lazy.
.
When I understood that there was a reason, a story, behind every single one of my reactions, I was able to name the deeper feelings that were fueling my emotions, and it took away some of its power.
.
Don't get me wrong. This is ongoing! I'm in process. Growing. Becoming more kind to myself. Slowing down. Making sense of what I'm feeling in the moment. Rewiring my default. Being restored.
